He said Bangabandhu laid the foundation of a strong partnership and deep friendship that Bangladesh-UK has been enjoying in the past five decades since his maiden visit to the UK on 08 January 1972. Lord Ahmed said that Bangabandhu’s founding vision of a democratic, secular and inclusive Bangladesh was an inspiring one; and the UK would remain a critical partner of Bangladesh seeking to support peace and prosperity for all its people led by the able leader of Bangabandhu, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. ....

Bangabandhu Dhaka Marathon on Sunday Staff Correspondent 9th January, 2021 09:30:00 Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Dhaka Marathon 2021, which has been arranged to mark the historic Homecoming Day of Bangabandhu on January 10, is scheduled to be held today. Bangladesh Army is organizing the event in collaboration with the National Implementation Committee and the overall coordination of the Armed Forces, marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Some 100 runners including 37 foreign runners from France, Kenya, Ethiopia, Bahrain, Belarus, Ukraine and Morocco and SAFF nations India, Maldives, Nepal and Pakistan will take part here. The event, which will be held in two divisions men and women, will start from Army Stadium at 6:30am and will end in Hatirjheel area. BJP has demanded complete repair of the bust before January 23, the birth anniversary of Netaji. JAMSHEDPUR: BJP leaders, workers and Bengali residents of the Steel City on Thursday took a strong exception to the removal of spectacles from the bust of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose installed at Aambagan Maidan by miscreants. Senior BJP leader and candidate of the Jamshedpur West assembly seat, Devendra Singh, along with a large number of party workers demanded immediate repair of the bust. Singh also informed authorities of the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) about the incident and demanded complete repair of the bust before January 23, the birth anniversary of Netaji. The saffron party leader later said JNAC has the taken the matter seriously and assured to repair the bust and the surrounding area soon apart from installing high-powered lights in the area. ....
